A Big Horn Mountain Elopement

As a young woman planning her wedding, an elopement was NOT something that I wanted to consider. I had so many friends & a large family with whom I wanted to share my wedding day, and I certainly wanted them all to be there as I walked down the aisle toward my beloved.

But, as we all know, the wedding day, with all its joy & revelry, comes & goes so quickly, and in a flash you're headed back to "real life" with your spouse, the months of planning for ONE day behind you.
While I still loooove those big weddings, I have a new appreciation for "the art of the elopement."

A Big Horn Mountain elopement with Rebecca & Josh inspired me as a wedding photographer to embrace the adventure! We loved that Sheridan offers beautiful mountain views, few people to compete with for venues, and amazing, accommodating florists, lodge-owners, and vendors who just want you to come and celebrate what it's all about- the marriage!
R & J brought with them their closest friends, a couple of siblings, and we all hopped into our truck & side-by-side to bump up to Big Horn Reservoir. As I drove to the venue, I gazed at the stars, enjoying the beauty of Sheridan, Wyoming, and appreciating the adventurous couple who entrusted me with capturing beautiful photos of their wedding day.

We enjoyed an intimate ceremony with craggy peaks & a mountain lake in the backdrop, complete with the evergreens that we love so well. After the ceremony, we were treated to a wonderful brunch at Spear-o-wigwam lodge and a horseback ride for the lovely couple. The afternoon was spent adventuring around the Big Horns and celebrating the couple's tying the knot!

After one month of planning, a few phone calls to confirm dates, locations, and plans, and a facebook marketplace dress picked up THE DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING (Rebecca is SO awesome,) R & J showed me the beauty, the magic, and the allure of a Big Horn Mountain Elopement.

If you've been wondering if an elopement is for you, this is your sign. It is. With me as your gal behind the lens.
